Supporting Mental Health in Schools
Creating Staff Wellbeing Communities

From the classroom to supporting schools nationwide: My personal journey
"During more than 4 decades in education, I experienced first-hand the challenges faced by teachers, support staff, and school leaders. Increasing workloads, growing responsibilities, Ofsted, and the increasing demands of society have made staff wellbeing more important than ever.
"From the age of 14 and during my career of 36 years as a teacher, Assistant Principal and LA advisor, I suffered from episodes of depression. In 2008, during a 3-month stay in hospital, I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder Type 2. Fortunately, after trialling a combination of medication, I found one that worked and this medication has become part of my daily life.
"I created Teach Well Toolkit to provide schools with practical, evidence-informed support that goes beyond one-off initiatives. Teach Well Toolkit is designed to help schools build healthier workplaces where staff feel valued, supported, and equipped to thrive.
"Today, Teach Well Toolkit partners with schools across the UK to deliver accredited First Aid for Mental Health training, staff wellbeing reviews, leadership support, and resources that promote lasting wellbeing cultural change."

Our Mission
We believe that schools perform at their best when the people within them are supported to flourish.
Our mission is to help every school create an environment where staff wellbeing is embedded into essential everyday practice — not as a nice-to-have
Through practical training, expert guidance, and long-term support, we work alongside school leaders to build resilient teams and healthy school communities.

How Teach Well Toolkit membership supports staff wellbeing in your school
"The partnership with Teach Well Toolkit has moved our actions around wellbeing forward. The conversation is out in the open and can be addressed, rather than it feeling like a tick box activity. We have the effective tools for action, led by a cross-section of the school. We're clear that meaningful wellbeing change is both an institutional and individual responsibility. This has been of great benefit to all stakeholders in our school family."
